E39M5, E500 4WD, E30race. According to ProDemand wiring diagrams, an '08 X5 3.0 can have either system, the relay or the EKPS. If the car has a relay instead of fuel pump module, then it is fuse 97 which gives power to the terminal 30 of that relay, and therefore to the pump itself. Fuse 97 should be hot at all times.
Before the X5 M, there was the X5 4.6iS and the 4.8iS, both of which were built based on the E53 platform. The original X5 may have helped change the automotive landscape and foreshadow what was to come, but it didn’t get a dedicated performance variant outside of the record-setting one-off V12 X5 LM. The closest thing BMW sold were the 4.6iS

I’ll dump out some facts and troubleshooting attempts: I have a 2005 X3 E83 3.0. It cranks fine, but will not start. On occasion, It blips and seems like it “might” start, but only for a moment. The fuel pump was changed. Measuring 50PSI at the rail with a fuel pressure gauge. I removed 4 plugs just to check for a flooded fuel condition
